3 ways to keep up your fitness routine
Whether you’re new to training or you’ve been doing it for a while but need a little extra motivation, here are 3 ways to keep up your fitness routine.
- Get nostalgic.
Did you love skating when you were a kid? Gymnastics? Swimming? Or were you more of a ballet or a soccer team kinda girl? Whatever your love was THEN, bet if you tried it again, it would still be your love NOW. Double-dutch anyone? Get it back.
- Mix it up. Seriously.
There’s a reason we call it a workout routine. And don’t get us wrong, routine can be a great thing! It keeps us in control – and allows us to fit it all in. But choosing DIFFERENT activities to fill those exercise time slots goes a long way. There’s no rule saying that you can’t jog on Saturday, cycle on Tuesday and swim on Thursday. Try it. Bet you’ll end up moving more and slogging through less.
- Remind yourself why you do it.
And lastly, take a step back and remind yourself why you do yoga, swim laps, play tennis, go hiking, walk to and from work or dance in your kitchen to the Grease soundtrack. You do it – or at least, did it – because it made you feel awesome. It burned stress, torched the day’s worries and gave your body oxygen, muscle, flexibility and strength. So the next time you suit up for doing anything active, remind yourself why you’re doing it. We promise, nobody ever worked out and wished they hadn’t.
